SAIA RODADA . CIRCLE SKIRT

I just love Guincho even more when it is windy. Today it was like this...
I hope you had a good Easter. Ours was great, but the days before were a little complicated ...
The virus that
I told you about on my last post was not a simple flu. It was aphthous stomatitis” (hope this is the right name in English...), the worst thing that ever happened to me. It seems that it is relatively common in children but we, adults, can’t imagine the pain that it gives. I could not eat for 5 days with my mouth and throat full of ulcers and my gums inflated and painful. And there's nothing we can do about it... “Just be patience”, say my pediatrician.
Of course there was no sewing for almost a week, but I had to make a CircleSkirt for the “sew along” contest on Project Run and Play. The idea was to use a shirt that I had and that no one wore and turn it into a skirt. I made some changes to Dana’s tutorial but it is still an easy and quick project.
Here are some tips:
- It is important to have  a big husband because the shirt has to be at least a XL to be wide enough to make the skirt.
- One shirt is enough to make two skirts because you just need to cut half a circle from the front and half a circle from the back for each one. If you just want to make one skirt you can use the leftover fabric to make a shirt or a top. I will show the shirt I´m making next week if I can finish it.
- I sewed together the elastic waistband in a slightly different way from that indicated by Dana (see the drawings that I photographed) because this way the raw edges are hidden when it is finished.
- The hem was made with bias tape for two reasons: first I thought it would be easier (it is really easy, actually) and it allowed me to slightly increase the length of the skirt. It also gives some grace to the skirt and makes it drape in a little different way.
- The original shirt buttons were replaced by flower buttons to make the skirt more "girly".
Hope you like it!
